a BA in Computer Science, with specialty in Sound programming and real-time audio synthesis,
from fall 2012.

Kristianstad University in the south of Sweden and the Department of Design and Computer Science is looking for a teacher, developer, designer, researcher with competence in Sound Programming, Music programming, real-time audio synthesis (MA, MFA or Ph.D. ).

All who are interested to build, modify or repair synthesizers and other sound boxes are very welcome to us for a nice DIY mingle!

Three international acts take the stage with their live electronics. The common denominator – they are all using new instruments that also add a visual dimension to the artistic whole.

From Solitudes British Future garage via Meerkat Recordings dubechoes to Nihad Tules version of heavy Swedish techno – The club night offers a variety of styles. While the more danceable acts are playing on the big stage with a massive sound, you can also chill in the lounge.

Video from Moderna Muséets freq-out exhibition 17-19 February!

On March 16th March, a big exhibition onSound Art. Sound as a Medium of Art” opens at ZKM in Karlsruhe. 

Hanna Hartman presents a work with the title "Acoustic Catacombs" and at the opening on the 16th of March she also performs her piece "spiel mit stärke".

One room designed by the Danish artist Hans Sydow will be staged as a tribute to Sten Hanson and his legendary piece ”How are you?”, one room selected and designed by Sanne Krogh Groth and Mats Lindström will be an EMS documentation space dedicated to the history of EMS. 

The room will expose the visual aesthetics of the early EMS studios and presents some of the research, technology and music executed and produced there.

Moderna Museet is going to be open from 7 pm February 17 through 7 pm February 19. For forty-eight hours, seven of the museum´s galleries will be occupied by the sound installation freq_out 8. The result will be a combination of sound and light that will "drench" the galleries in all the colors of the rainbow.

Iftah Gabbai is half of "skinnerbox", the Berlin based live act, which has earned its international name due to its infamously unpredictable improvised shows and its critically acclaimed studio releases. Skinnerbox are also the makers of the "sbx 2049", a virtual drum machine software, officially released by Ableton in June 2010, 19:00 and they are the first artists to release their self made - branded Ableton live instrument.

In the coming workshop Iftah will present his custom made live set-up which consists of two Monomes, a dedicated Arduino based d.i.y controller and a custom written Max for live software. He will talk and demonstrate performative aspects of improvisation within such a controller based custom environment for both live and studio usage.

Resident artists Vinyl Terror and Horror spent two weeks at EMS in November and among onther things performed at the Sound of Stockholm festival. VTH uses heavily modified record players and vinyl reords to create multi layered compositions of noise, klicks and fragments of music and speech.
During their stay at EMS they cooperated with studio engineer Daniel  Araya to use EMS computer controlled milling machine to create a number of innovative records and tools for their live performances.
