EMS has seven studios with the following setups:
Studio 1: Avid HDX and a 15.1 Genelec sound system, arranged in a 10-channel array of 8350A at listening level and a 5-channel array of 8340A in the ceiling, plus a subwoofer 7380A. Studio 1 is also equipped with an 8-channel Audient microphone preamp, two Heritage Audio 81A preamps and two stereo reverbs
– EMT 140 plate and a Micmix SC-3A spring.
Studio 2: Avid HDX and a 15.1 Genelec sound system, arranged in a 10-channel array of 8350A at listening level and a 5-channel array of 8340A in the ceiling, plus a subwoofer 7380A.
Studio 3: Antelope Galaxy32 (DC-coupled in/out), 2-channel full range Ino Audio sound system as well as a pair of Genelec 8341 near-field monitors and a pair of Genelec subs. Audient ASP008 preamp, a small Buchla 200 system and a clone of a Buchla 100 system made by The Human Comparator, Jon Nensén, which can interface with the studio computer/other devices through an Expert Sleepers ES-8. An AKG BX20 spring reverb is also available from this room. The newest additions to Studio 3 are a 500-rack containing a pair of Heritage Audio EQ73 JR, an SSL Ultraviolet stereo EQ and a SSL 500 stereo bus compressor.
Studio 4: Antelope Galaxy32 (DC-coupled in/out) and 2/4/8-channel Ino Audio sound system, with two main speakers and six small surround speakers. This system can also be used as an 8-channel system, though calibrated as a 4-channel. Two Genelec 8341 near-field monitors are installed in the studio as well as a pair of Genelec subs. An AKG BX20 spring reverb is also available from this studio. Studio 4 is home to our Buchla 200 modular synthesizer, which can interface with the studio computer/other devices through a Buchla 225e MIDI/USB decoder module or Expert Sleepers ES-8. Studio 4 is also equipped with an Audient ASP008 preamp.
Studio 5: A recording room shared between studios 1 and 4. The recording room has eight microphone connections to Studio 1 and to Studio 4, respectively. Talkback is available from both Studio 1 and Studio 4.
Studio 6: Antelope Galaxy32 (DC-coupled in/out) and 2-channel Ino Audio sound system. Studio 6 is home to our Serge modular synthesizer which can interface with the studio computer through a Kenton Pro 2000 mk II MIDI-CV-interface. A pair of Genelec 8341 near-field monitors and a single Genelec sub are also installed in Studio 6, as well as two Genelec 8030 monitors positioned for 4-channel listening. Also available in Studio 6 is a SYNTRX made by Erica Synths and a Nord Wave.
Studio 7: RME Fireface audio interface and a pair of Genelec 8341 speakers. The studio computer has Da Vinci, Final Cut X.
A mobile synth rack is available through the booking system, containing an assortment of hardware synthesizers and effect units; two Yamaha TX81Z, a Nord Modular, a Nord Rack 3, Waldorf XT and a Lexicon PCM80.
Our main softwares are ProTools, Ableton Live, Reaper, Logic, Reason, SuperCollider, Max/MSP and Waves, Fab Filter, Izotope and GRM plugins.
Our microphones are Neuman KM-183+184 (matched stereo pairs), AKG C414 (matched stereo pair), Ehrlund EHR-M, Neumann KM-100, Electro Voice RE-20, Sennheiser 421, DPA 4060 core, SE Electronics S8 (pair), SE Electronics SE4400A, Samson CL2 (pair), Oktava MK-012 (pair), SM58, SM57, Röde NT-SF1 (ambisonics mic), Line Audio OM1, Aquarium Audio hydrophone, SOMA Ether, LOM Elektroslush 3+ and DodoTronic Ultramic250K.
For field recording we have Line Audio CM3 (mounted in a zeppelin), Telinga disks and Sennheiser 416 MKH.
We also have Elektron Analog Rytm, Teenage Engineering OP-1 field, TX-6, Erica Synths Percons HD-01 and THC Rundgång.
As mobile recording equipment we can offer Motu Ultralite + 828, Zoom H4N, Zoom F6, Zoom H8 and RME Digiface USB.
