Egil Kalman presenteras som en del av Elektronmusikstudions 60 års jubileumsshowcase på Norbergfestival 4-6 juli!

Samarbetet mellan EMS och Norbergfestival sträcker sig nästan 20 år tillbaka i tiden och har inkluderat en lång rad föreställningar på Risbergs Verkstad i samarbete med Region Västmanland, beställningsverk som producerats i residens på EMS och framförts i Mimer samt ljudinstallationer och flerkanaliga presentationer.
Till årets 25-årsjubileum av Norbergfestivalen är EMS stolta över att presentera tre artister med tre distinkt personliga förhållningssätt till kompositioner och liveframträdanden av elektronisk musik: Marta Forsberg + Sindri Runudde, Lars Åkerlund och Egil Kalman.
Egil Kalman tolkar traditionell folkmusik från Norge och Sverige på modularsynthesizer. Han ägnar stor uppmärksamhet åt intonation och ornamentering i källmaterialet, och dessa detaljer ses i ett nytt ljus tillsammans med ljudet av rå elektricitet som förstärker dess inneboende tranceinducerande egenskaper.
Han är en regelbundet gästkompositör på EMS och hans andra LP "Forest of Tines, Egil Kalman plays the Buchla 200" med musik som spelas live på det legendariska Buchla 200-systemet på EMS, släpptes på iDeal Recordings tidigare i år.
Förutom sitt soloarbete är han också aktiv i flera grupper som kontrabasist och med synthesizers, t ex Marthe Lea Band, Miman, Völvur och i duo med Zoe Efstathiou och Fredrik Rasten.

The collaboration between EMS and Norbergfestival goes back almost 20 years and has included a long-running series of off-site performances at Risbergs Verkstad in collaboration with Region Västmanland, commissioned pieces produced in residency at EMS and performed in Mimer as well as sound installations and multichannel presentations.
For this year’s anniversary edition of Norbergfestival EMS is proud to present three performers with three distinctly personal approaches to compositions and the live performance of electronic music: Marta Forsberg + Sindri Runudde, Lars Åkerlund and Egil Kalman.
Egil Kalman interprets traditional folk music from Norway and Sweden on the modular synthesizer. Paying close attention to intonation and ornamentation in the source material, these details shine in a new light with the sound of raw electricity amplifying its inherent trance inducing qualities.
A regular Guest composer at EMS, his second LP “Forest of Tines, Egil Kalman plays the Buchla 200” with music played live on the legendary Buchla 200 system at EMS, was released on iDeal Recordings earlier this year.
Besides his solo work he’s also active in several groups as a double bass player and synthesist, such as Marthe Lea Band, Miman, Völvur and in duos with Zoe Efstathiou and Fredrik Rasten.
