Vienna based artist & composer Peter Kutin works across genres, mediums and media. Driven by curiosity and a collaborative ethos, Kutin has written and developed music and sonic environments for film, theatre, performance, contemporary dance and radioplays. His cooperations span genres as generations, working with the likes of German composer Christina Kubisch, the welsh vocalist Freya Edmondes, power-house drummers Katharina Ernst or Lukas König, AV-artist Billy Roisz, Film-directors such as Sandra Wollner or Nikolaus Geyrhalter, the choreographer Philipp Gehmacher amm.
As a maker, his kinetic sound-light instrument Torso#1 received the prestigious Prix - Ars Electronica in 2019. His interest in how we perceive sound in relation to images (movement) lead him to write and direct a series of experimental short films and kinetic ‘sound-light’ sculptures. Kutin’s live performances or installations often include kinetic objects. They hold a physical and psychological impact that will throw you as much off balance as it will embrace you.
