Canadian-American musician Elise Macmillan performs, composes and improvises as EMACS, dissolving and interweaving melodies into ghostly fragments and flexible rhythms.

She studied computer music at Stanford University and moved from Chicago to Telemark, Norway in 2015 to study traditional Hardanger fiddle.

She released Night Blooming Planet on FELIX ONYX (LA) in 2017, was an artist in residence at the Embassy of Foreign Artists in Geneva in 2019 and is currently an FKDS studio fellow at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo.
