Michael Hinton, now based near Brighton in England, worked at EMS from 1972-1984 as composer, teacher and software designer. Amongst other things he created IMPAC, one of the first computer programs to enable real-time control and manipulation of complex musical sounds and structures.
He is now working on software to allow gesture-controlled performance of computer generated sounds, and will be working on a piece that uses the new software in combination with human voices.
