Benjamin Nelson is an American artist currently living and working in Oslo.
Nelson’s reductionist compositions typically focus on spectral micro shifts and small slow motions, exploring the compositional possibilities of duration, phase, hearing fatigue and room resonance.

Increasingly inspired by sculpture and hypothetical objects Nelson’s work uses near-static sounds and concrete structures to reveal the inner complexity of textures that seem simple and motionless on the surface. Recent work has also included installation pieces using an array of custom sculptural speakers.
Nelson has toured throughout the US and Europe as both a solo performer and a member of various bands and ensembles. Collaborators have included Verdensteatret, Brendan Murray, Eli Keszler, Katarina Miljkovic, Reuben Son, Patrick Emm, and others.
