Agathe Simon is a French artist, born in 1977. She lives and works in Paris. She is a Ph.D. holder from Sorbonne University and from Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP). She is frequently invited abroad for creative residencies.
Since 2008, Simon has created a cycle comprising of fictional characters. Her scope is to explore and warp the borders often ambiguous and sometimes nonexistent between reality and imagination. Her work unfolds in various media: installation, text, video, sound. Simon’s artistic process questions politics and imagination in different ways: freedoms, history, fiction, intangible heritage. Her work is driven by a humanistic vision through which otherness and new horizons are regularly present.

Agathe Simon has worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Argentine Government, the French Institute of Argentina, the French Institute of Algeria, the French Institute of Sweden, Pushkinskaya-10 Art Center, Russian State Arctic & Antarctica Museum, Dostoevsky museum of Saint-Petersburg, Radio France, Arte France, the Musical Library of Paris, Pasdeloup Orchestra, Chez Jean Music & Radio Production Company, Île-de-France Region, etc.
She has been invited in creative residency by National Direction of the Antarctica (Carlini, Antarctica), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, France), Pushkinskaya-10 Art Center (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), AIR Bergen (Bergen, Norway), Visby International Center for Composers (Visby, Sweden), Fundación Valparaíso (Mojácar, Spain), Saari Residence (Mynämäki, Finland), Yeonhui Art Space Center (Seoul, South Korea), Fiskars Artist in Residence program (Fiskars, Finland), Liguria Study Center for the Arts and Humanities (Bogliasco, Italy), Council of Danish Artists’ residences (Hirsholmene, Denmark).
