Scott Monteith is a Canadian musician, sound artist, and music technology educator best known for his work under the stage name Deadbeat. Having launched the project in 1999, his work over 13 albums for labels such as ~scape, wagon repair and his own BLKRTZ imprint, countless singles and remixes, and a genre defining DJ mix (Radio Rothko) have solidified his position as one of modern dub music's greatest champions.

Having met with consistent critical acclaim from the industry's leading publications, his live performances and DJ sets have also drawn multiple invitations from electronic music's most globally recognized festivals including Montreal's Mutek, Barcelona's Sonar, and Berlin's Transmediale, and as a educational speaker and workshop leader for the world renowned Red Bull Music Academy, as well as technology leaders such as Microsoft and Ableton among others.

Whether crafting undefinable noise and sound scapes, kaleidoscopic house and techno, or new approximations of the the timeless forms of reggae dub and dancehall so dear to his heart, Scott has established himself as an unique, ever evolving, and visionary musical voice in an increasingly crowded field.
