Maya Shenfeld is a Jerusalem born Berlin-based composer, sound artist, and guitarist.
Her works span from electroacoustic compositions, sound installations and ensemble pieces to performing as a classical, experimental and rock guitarist. In her practice, Shenfeld explores the intersection between modes of musical production used in experimental and popular music.
Her interests lie in the embodiment of the listening experience, researching temporality, deep listening, just intonation, and microtonality.
Shenfeld’s works have been presented internationally, among others in the Humboldt Forum, ACUD Macht Neu, und Klangwerkstatt Festival für Neue Musik Berlin (2018); Loop Festival Los Angeles (2018); Centrala Art Gallery Birmingham UK (2017); KW Institute for Contemporary Art, und Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin (2017). Als Gitarristin spielte sie u.a. im Tel Aviv Museum of the Arts, Torstraßen Festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Neuköllner Oper und Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
