Yellow Wasabi
At EMS September 9–13, 2026

Yellow Wasabi is a Paris-based composer, performer and evolutionary biologist working at the intersection of electroacoustic music, interactive systems and instrument design.
Her artistic research explores how computational processes transform bodily gestures into sonic structures. Combining the Chinese guzheng with motion tracking, machine listening and generative audiovisual systems, she develops performance environments where movement, sound and spatial perception continuously influence one another.
At EMS, she will investigate new approaches to spatial composition for guzheng, integrating gesture recognition, real-time signal processing and multichannel sound diffusion. Her research focuses on extending traditional instrumental practice through digital technologies while preserving the physical expressivity and acoustic complexity of the instrument.
Her work has been developed through residencies at GRAME, GMEM, EMS, Art Zoyd Studios, Ateliers Médicis and the Schoenberg Society, and presented across Europe and Asia. Her research has been published and presented through IRCAM Forum, SysMus and CFMAE.
