Our Mission
Since 1964, we have contributed to a vibrant music scene within electroacoustic music and sound art.
Our mission is to support artistic development in the genre and to create opportunities for collaboration and learning.
Studios with World-Class Technology
Each year, we welcome hundreds of Swedish and international composers and sound artists to our location on Söder Mälarstrand in Stockholm. Our studios are equipped with world-class technology and are open 24/7, year-round.

Courses and Training
Through our courses, we open our studios to both emerging and established artists who want to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of the genre.
Residencies and Studio Users
Through our international residency program, we give composers from around the world the opportunity to work in our studios. We accept international applications once a year.
Composers based outside Sweden can apply to become studio users here.
Where History and Future Meet
When EMS was founded over 60 years ago, the studio was a groundbreaking artistic and technological project—unique in the world. Since then, EMS has remained an international hub for composers and artists working with sound.
