Naoki Nomoto

Born in Japan 1975, and based in Tokyo, Naoki Nomoto is a self-taught computer/electronic musician and programmer with 20 years of experience in sonic art in Japan. His work explores the intersection of modular synthesis and algorithmic composition, using SuperCollider alongside modular systems.
A key figure in Japan’s live coding scene, he has been organizing Algorave Tokyo since 2017 with Renick Bell, Chiho Oka, Moxus and more. He has performed multiple times at the Tokyo Festival of Modular. He collaborates with a wide range of musicians in the electronic music and improvisation scene, including PAINJERK, Kazuo Imai, Akira Sakata, suzueri, Makoto Oshiro, Mitsuhisa Sakaguchi, and Utah Kawasaki etc, bringing his unique approach to improvisation through music programming environments.
He also organizes music events in Tokyo, supporting international artists such as MoE, Jung An Tagen, Calum Gunn, Nick Klein, and Alex McLean.
His recent notable releases include “Synthesis Performed by Anonymous Performers at Ideala” (SUPERPANG, 2021) and “Non-Musica Elettronica Gruppo” by N.G. with PAINJERK (2023).
