Leandro Barzabal
At EMS 19 May–1 june, 2025

Born in La Plata (Argentina), Leandro Barzabal settled in Paris in 2018. He develops an artistic practice at the crossroads of experimental and music and performance arts. Exploring the boundaries between sound, image and movement, he designs unique devices and reinterprets existing instruments through processes of stripping, degradation and combustion. Among his current projects is the Acouspauvrium, a concept that designates “fragile audio systems”. He creates sound diffusion devices with poor materials, where the speakers become an integral part of a process of progressive alteration, subjected to sound frequencies until they disintegrate or
self-destruct. Through his works, Leandro Barzabal questions the notions of materiality, ephemerality, limits and resistance.
