Cristiana Palandri

Composer and visual artist, Cristiana Palandri graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, in Electronic Music at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan and in Composition at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland. She is currently a PhD researcher in Music Technology and Innovation at De Montfort in Leicester (UK). 

Since 2007, she has exhibited, installed, and performed her works in museums, galleries, and institutions worldwide, including, among others, Fondazione Merz (Turin), “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory (Milan), LAC (Lugano), Liebig 12 (Berlin), Museo Carlo Bilotti – Aranciera di Villa Borghese (Roma), Museo Civico di Palazzo della Penna (Perugia), Museo del Novecento (Florence), Museo del Novecento (Milano), Museo Laboratorio Arte Contemporanea (Università La Sapienza, Roma), Museo Marino Marini (Florence), New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and Teatro Studio di Scandicci (Florence).

Over the years, she has spent periods of study and research in England, Germany, Romania and the United States, and composed music for films and installations, also under the moniker YokoKono.

In 2018 she participated in the Premio Nazionali delle Arti with the Canadian composer Barry Truax (Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Alfredo Casella”, L’Aquila). In 2020 she was selected at the Sound and Music Computing Conference (Turin, 2020 ) with an acousmatic piece and in the same year, she won the TAP/21 prize of the Tramontana Trio of Bern and the Netzspinnerei Award for Young Swiss Composers. In 2021 she collaborated with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana on the project Sulle Tracce di Tchaikovsky and her Nebulae was performed at the LAC in Lugano. Since 2022 she has been part of the Spheres ensemble with which, in 2023, she performed her A Letter to Johanna, dedicated to the composer Johanna Beyer, at the LAC in Lugano.

In 2023  she performed her opera in four scenes, Il sogno di Kubik, at the DamsLab, University of Bologna and in 2024 at the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. 

In 2015 she released the EP Sub Umbra (SØVN Records), in 2017 “Psychopompe” in the anthology Self Identified (Hylé Tapes) and in 2021 “Helga” in the anthology Music for Queuing at the Supermarket (SØVN Records).

Since 2007 she has exhibited her artworks in solo and collective exhibitions worldwide.
