Atte Kantonen

Atte Elias Kantonen is a Helsinki-based sound laborer working in the fields of experimental music and performing arts. In his works, Kantonen explores the potential of elastic synthesis and extremely processed sound as vessels for abstract, phantasmagorical storytelling. With interest in different forms of tangibility within sound and in its representational qualities, he creates compositions where the serene and the discordant constantly fold in on themselves, revealing an emotive sliver of the other. 

His works have been released on labels such as SODA GONG (US), mappa (SK) and SUPERPANG (IT), and presented at festivals including Sonic Acts (NL) and Akousma (CA) among others. His work at the residency is supported by the Kone Foundation.
