At EMS September 22–October 12, 2025

Matteo Tomasetti is an Italian sound artist, live performer, and researcher who works to create immersive musical experiences where gesture-based interfaces and spatial audio play a central role. With a background in electronic music and audiovisual composition, and a Ph.D. in Music Technology from the University of Trento, his artistic practice spans acousmatic and electroacoustic music, techno, ambient and IDM productions, experimental electronics, as well as sound art and multimedia and interactive installations.

Matteo’s works and research on spatial audio, new interfaces for musical expression, and musical extended reality have been published in leading engineering and artistic-practice journals and featured at festivals and conferences worldwide, including Ars Electronica, La Biennale di Venezia, the International Computer Music Conference, Live Cinema Festival, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Videocittà, and many others.

His techno project is presented under the alias Tomson Fauster, while his ambient and IDM project appears under ShapeDaze. Matteo is also involved in collaborative projects such as BitNet01 — a collective curating electronic music and digital-art festivals across Europe — and Mimesi, an audiovisual performative trio created with visual artist Filippo Gualazzi and composer Filippo Angeloni.

He currently teaches electronic music and music technology at the Conservatory of Pescara and is a member of the Creative, Intelligent & Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (CIMIL) at the University of Trento, where he continues to explore the intersections of composition, performance, sound design, and emerging technologies.
