Submission of Works

Elektronmusikstudion EMS collects and preserves all works that have been created with us since our founding in 1964.

It is important for us that all composers who work in our studios submit their completed works. This contributes to our archive and provides material for research and concerts. The statistics on submitted works are presented in EMS/Statens Musikverk’s annual report.

Which works can be submitted?

You can submit all works that have been created entirely or partially at EMS, whether they have been released or not. By “works,” we also mean exercises and études.

We accept:

  • Audio files in WAV format (For multi-channel works, we require both a stereo mix and individual mono files)
  • Physical discs
  • Documentation, program code, and other materials – if the project did not result in recorded sound or video

If you wish to include the EMS logo in connection with a release, you can download the logo here.

How to submit your work

For each work you submit, you should fill out the submission form. Then, submit the work and the form to EMS staff or send it to EMS librarian, Pär Johansson at:

Musik- och teaterbiblioteket
Att: Pär Johansson
Tegeluddsvägen 100
115 28 Stockholm

You can also send download links for WAV files by email to Pär Johansson at par.johansson(a)musikochteaterbiblioteket.se. Don’t forget to include the submission form.

You may use services like Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, Sprend or Bandcamp. However, please make sure that the download does not require a login. If possible, ensure that the link stays active for at least one week.

Digitally submitted material

Digital material is stored and backed up professionally to ensure the preservation of the music.

Physically submitted material

If you submit a physical disc along with an audio file, the audio file will be archived while the disc is placed in the EMS library.
