Carlos Giffoni is a Venezuelan-born electronic music composer and improviser who has been a dynamic and foundational presence in the global experimental music scene since arriving in the US at age 17 in 1996.

His current solo work features an array of custom electronics, using analog and digital synths to create abstract compositions full of shifting sonic layers. Esteemed labels such as Ideologic Organ, Room40, Ideal Recordings, and Important Records have released his work. Giffoni is also widely renowned as the visionary curator of the iconic No Fun Fest (2004-2010), a New York festival that fundamentally transformed the visibility and community of American experimental music. The festival recently came back with editions in New York (2026) and Valencia, Spain (2027).

Carlos has collaborated with a number of esteemed experimental musicians including Ikue Mori, Okkyung Lee, Zeena Parkins, Jim O’Rourke, Merzbow, Pita, Zbigniew Karkowski, Chris Corsano, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Nels Cline, Lasse Marhaug and many others.

Carlos has recently completed residencies at prestigious institutions such as INA/GRM in Paris and EMS in Stockholm. His music has also crossed into high fashion, featured in promotional campaigns for Jil Sander, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Prada.

Giffoni’s creative range extends to writing graphic novels, with published works at Dark Horse, Black Mask, Image Comics, and IDW.

Giffoni is currently based in Valencia, Spain, and is promoting his new record, Pendulum, which dropped on the Room40 label in February 2026 and features collaborations with Zola Jesus, Mabe Fratti, Ben Chasny, Greg Kelley, Lea Bertucci, and Iggor Cavalera.
