August Webster Fessel, Jasper Palm Sirek & Laurits Schifter Lorenzen

Gateaway Collective is an experimental electronic music/sound art focused concept consisting of three Copenhagen Based electronic musicians and sound designers: August Webster, Jasper Sirek and Laurits Lorenzen
Together they work with alternative composition methods, experimental recording techniques and digital processing, combining analogue and digital sound design into immersive soundscapes.

August( aug.ost) makes blips and blops that tickle your brain and makes you wonder whether a blip was happy or a blop was sad. He likes to seduce your ears and take them on a trance-like journey, with small bumps and curves along the way.He wants your mind to evaporate through your ears, and he’ll try to make that happen by mixing analogue and digital components, organic and artificial materials.

Jasper performs and releases music as Pilous Tower, a project revolving the ambiguity of the tower in symbolism. Assuming that even the most ambitious towers will collapse eventually, this project is destined to cease, too. So far the project has lingered with vintage test-equipment, subterranean field recordings and metallic soundsculptures. 

Laurits, also creating music under the name Salt Figure, works primarily with synthbased ambience, noise and glitchy guitars to create dreamy and suspenseful atmospheres. His recent practice has focused on site-specific compositions and the use of graphic scores as tools for exploring and shaping sound.

During the residency at EMS they will be exploring their individual practices while working together around the theme of distance, between places, people, ideas and sounds. They will be exchanging ideas and collaborating with Stockholm based artists from different disciplines.
