Remmy Canedo
At EMS November 9–14, 2026

Remmy Canedo is a composer and computer music designer working at the intersection of sound, technology, and performance. He studied composition and computer music at the University of Chile, the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, and IRCAM in Paris. Since 2006, he has created music, audiovisual works, and interactive installations for instruments, voice, and multimedia.
His early work focused on the real-time transformation and deformation of sound, exploring the dynamic interplay between performers and machines. More recently, his practice has expanded toward live algorithmic composition, extending these processes into the realm of the score. Through this approach, he develops interactive systems that connect composition, performance, and visualization, shaping what he describes as multiform music.
During his time at EMS he will work with two projects:
- Cyborg Songs, for cybernetic voice and invisible piano. The piece involves algorithmic composition, voice transformation in real time, depth sensors and video mapping in the form of a virtual song cycle.
- Abstract quartet II, for violoncello and virtual string quartet. The intention with this piece is to create a virtual string quartet from a single instrument in real time through real time audiovisual processes.
