Jookwan Song
At EMS June 29–July 29, 2026

Jookwan Song is a sound-multimedia artist based in Seoul, exploring ways to create mutually responsive and ecological environments between the surrounding context and the artwork interactively and generatively in pursuit of interdisciplinary approaches. His practice encompass sound, multimedia installation, audiovisual live performance, algorithmic, jazz, instrumental composition and field recording. He draws on humanistic themes – the physics of time, insights into unconscious environments and the imagery and presence of memory, which are realized through environments shaped by digital algorithms and installation structures. He has recently expanded the artistic interest into micro-ecological components – viruses and bacteria, employing genomic sequence data in algorithmic generative processes.
Some of his key works include Belle Faust(2023), COVID19 : Horizontal Transcender(2021), the Sequence : AAGAA(2020), Vox : the Abstract(2018), Presence(2017), and have been presented at Kinitiras Performing Art Studio residency(Athens), Digital Graffiti International Festival(US), Aesthetica Magazine(UK), New Media Art International Festival(Seoul), Gustave Atelier(Paris), D-Chango(Tokyo), among others.
