Michael Lassoff
At EMS 2025

Michael Lassoff is a composer, performer, and interdisciplinary sound artist working at the fringes of experimental music, noise, and performative electronics. His practice bridges sonic sculpture, live improvisation, and algorithmic composition—often pushing the limits of hardware through DIY circuitry, hacked devices, and voltage-driven feedback systems.
Lassoff’s work explores the erotics of sound and the mystical potential of machine-human interaction, drawing on traditions as diverse as sacred drone, club culture, and outsider science. His recent projects involve chaotic systems as compositional agents and the development of bespoke analog-digital instruments for sonic ritual.
He has presented performances and installations internationally at venues, underground scenes, and festivals across Europe and North America. In addition to solo work, Lassoff frequently collaborates with dancers, poets, and coders in multidisciplinary settings. He maintains an active presence in the noise and sound art communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
At EMS, Michael Lassoff will focus on developing a new series of compositions using high-voltage analog resonators and real-time spectral synthesis. The work continues his research into sonic phenomena as portals for non-linear time, ecstatic states, and altered perception.
