AMA is the duo of visual artist Marie-Louise Andersson and sound artist Laure Boer. In their collaboration, they work at the intersection of sound, sunlight, performance, sound sculptures, and experimental music. Since 2023, they have been developing the sound piece ECHO PHOS, which premiered 2024 in Brønshøj Vandtårn — a former water tower in Copenhagen (DK). During their stay at EMS, the artists will continue the development of ECHO PHOS.

On October 8, they will open their studio to present the sound sculptures and share insights into their process at Elektronmusikstudion.

ECHO PHOS is based on the resonance between brass sound sculptures, space, movement and sunlight. The sculptures act as a sonic mediation – between the sunlight and the exhibition space. When performing with the sculptures we convert the sunlight into moving frequencies, at the same time, the sculptures produce their own resonance – bouncing back the acoustics of the space. Creating a hyper-attentive environment in which each sound is maximally charged. In ECHO PHOS we explore light and materials potential for sound with a focus on the tactility of sound. We approach tactility as a way to listen with the skin. The skin is possibly, not the actual limit of where the body ends and everything else begins.
