ERASMUS+ internship: Otso Aho

We are happy to welcome Otso Aho who will start their internship at EMS February 3.

Otso Aho is a Finnish sound artist specializing in spatial sound and composing/live improvisation with electronics and found objects. Their practice revolves around the use of large-scale dynamics, full spectrum sound, sonic drama and spatial synthesis.

A recurring theme of their work is the exploration of spatial forms – how the mutations of shape and scale of a given sound manifest altered states of space in the listener. How is space in its multiple states actualized in the human perception? How could one approach space as an instrument?

During their internship at Elektronmusikstudion, Aho explores ways to compose and improvise live for multichannel sound projection via a combination of SuperCollider, Ambisonics and the modular systems of EMS.

Aho is currently finishing their BA studies at the Institute of Sonology of Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag in the Netherlands.
