Course information:
During this workshop led by acoustician Josefin Lindebrink we will discuss acoustics of space that is, sound situated in space and the effects physical environments have on sound transmission. We will also talk about binaural technology and how it can be used for recording immersive auditory environments.
Participants will learn how to build their own binaural microphone set-up. We will then head out and record later ending the day with a listening session.
This workshop requires no previous knowledge, we will work in teams.
Material costs are covered by the participation fee. Participants need however to bring a recording device (portable with a mic/line input) as we won’t have a sufficient amount to lend out. If not having access to such please notify us when signing up to the workshop and we will try to help you find one.
Josefin Lindebrink, (b. 1986, SE), is an acoustician based in Stockholm, Sweden. In her practice she works with room acoustical preparation, virtual acoustics modeling, and auralization. Her work also intersects with perceptual studies of sonic environments. She seeks to build platforms that explore our relationship to physical space. This takes the form of installation-based compositions that dissects the daily acoustic spaces we inhabit. She has conducted several lectures in the subjects of acoustics, psychoacoustics and auralization technology. Her recent talks have been hosted by Escuela Superior de Arquitectura, Guadalajara, MX, HackerspaceSG, Singapore and EMS in Stockholm, SE. Her work has been exhibited at the CMRC 35th Anniversary Festival in Athens, GR; Laboratorio Sensorial, Guadalajara, MX and at Fylkingen, Stockholm, SE.
