Camilla Vatne Barratt-Due (Canilla) and Lukas Grundmann work together as a duo exploring the intersection of extended accordion techniques and live electronics.
Their collaboration is rooted in a shared curiosity for sound transformation.
At the core of their practice is the accordion\u2019s rich harmonic potential, which serves
as a springboard for experimental processing. They manipulate and expand the instrument\u2019s textures\u2014merging them with both digital and analog synthesis.
Their setups often involve a blend of live performance and automated systems, including fan-driven reeds, breath-controlled sensors, and live coding environments. Their work moves fluidly between composition and improvisation, structure and chance. They often create custom physical interfaces that become both tools for performance and conceptual extensions of their sound practice.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

\n

Canilla is a newly sculpted project by Norwegian sound artist and instrument builder Camilla Vatne Barratt-Due<\/a>. Frequently composing for dance and theatre productions she develops sonic fields that often includes electronics and live coded synthesis merged with materials from her extensive accordion collection. Canilla\u2019s performative installations have been presented in museums and theatres as well as sound-art, dance and music festivals in Germany, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, UK and Norway.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

\n

Lukas Grundmann<\/a> works with sound and experimental electronic music in installations, performances and compositions in contexts of music, art, theatre and radio. He is a board member of Cashmere Radio, curates Klangkunst for Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and teaches at UdK Berlin in the M.A. program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts, where he also serves as its technical director.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
