Working across field recording, archival sound, and oral history, Hayley uses her music to explore community and culture. Much of her work is immersed in the rural and urban narratives of her local Manchester, drawing on first-hand interviews, and collaborating closely with those who can provide the most accurate document of their environment. Her practice spans installation art, live performance, and long-form compositions, using techniques such as ambisonics and multi-channel audio to create expansive sonic experiences that invite reflection on the intricate relationships between memory, belonging, and the spaces we inhabit. <\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Hayley is currently undertaking a practice-based PhD at NOVARS Research Centre in Manchester, UK – using oral histories as the foundation of her portfolio of works, while also examining the ethical dimensions of incorporating these narratives into her compositions.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
