Last day to apply September 27, 2026. <br><\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From the Crow\u2019s to the Cod\u2019s Perspective<\/strong> <\/h2>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A weekend workshop with Jana Winderen exploring how to listen to and record sound from different perspectives and in different situations. Through practical exercises, we will explore environments and situations, using the participants\u2019 own experiences and interests as a starting point.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshop is aimed at users at EMS who want to deepen their relationship with field recording as an artistic practice.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Friday 9 October, 18:00\u201320:00<\/strong><br>&#8211; Jana Winderen presents her experiences from field recording trips and shares her working process with sound, from studio work through to installations and exhibitions, as well as performances and releases.<br>&#8211; Preparation and review of the equipment for the following day.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Saturday 10 October, 10:00\u201316:00<\/strong><br>&#8211; Meeting at EMS, checking the weather forecast and preparing the equipment.<br>&#8211; Outdoor fieldwork in groups.<br>&#8211; Listening to and logging the recordings. <\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sunday 11 October, 10:00\u201316:00<\/strong><br>-Working with the recordings indoors.<br>-Participants present their experiences to one another, reflecting on listening, the recordings, and the work that follows.<br><\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What to bring to the workshop:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Weather-appropriate clothing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laptop and power cable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lunch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notebook and pen<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the workshop leader<\/h2>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/janawinderen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jana Winderen<\/a> is an artist based in Norway with a background in mathematics, chemistry and fish ecology. Her practice pays particular attention to audio environments and to creatures which are hard for humans to access, both physically and aurally \u2013 deep under water, inside ice or in frequency ranges inaudible to the human ear. Her activities include site-specific and spatial audio installations and concerts, which have been exhibited and performed internationally in major institutions and public spaces. Recent work includes Towards Abyssal Plains for ArtScience Museum, Singapore, here: this place for Momentum13, Moss, Meet the Locals: Underwater for Bergen Assembly, Bergen, The River at Jerwood Gallery, Natural History Museum, London, Absent Voices, Haus der Kunst, Munich, The Art of Listening: Underwater at Lenfest Center for the Arts, Colombia University, New York, Listening through the Dead Zones for IHME, Helsinki, The Art of Listening: Underwater for Audemar Piguet at Art Basel, Miami, Rising Tide at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo, Listening with Carp for Now is the Time in Wuzhen, Through the Bones for Thailand Art Biennale in Krabi, b\u00e1ra for TBA21_Academy, Spring Bloom in the Marginal Ice Zone for Sonic Acts, Dive in Park Avenue Tunnel in New York and Ultrafield for MoMA, New York. In 2011 she won the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica for Digital Musics &amp; Sound Art. She releases her audio-visual work on Touch (UK).<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application and terms<\/h2>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Application and invoice<br><\/strong>The workshop is open to EMS users.  Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation by email that it has been received. Selection for the course is based on an overall assessment of each application in relation to the other applicants. Admission decisions will be sent by email after the selection process has been completed. If you are accepted, an invoice will be sent to you shortly thereafter.<br><br><strong>Payment<br><\/strong>The fee must be paid in advance to participate in the workshop.<br>The payment must be done by direct wire transfer to our bank in Sweden.<br>The payment must be made in Swedish currency SEK.<br>It\u2019s not possible to pay by PayPal or similar.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"w-constrained richtext\"><external-link-icon>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Canceled or rescheduled workshop<\/strong><br>Elektronmusikstudion reserves the right to cancel the workshop, change dates for lectures, teachers and fee. If this happens, you will be notified by email. Any paid workshop fees will be refunded if the workshop is canceled.
