Charbel Haber is a Lebanese musician, composer, and visual artist currently based in Paris, known for his experimental and interdisciplinary approach to both music and art. Haber\u2019s sound is characterized by its fusion of lush, processed guitar tones with complex digital manipulations, creating dense, atmospheric textures that evoke Mediterranean melancholia.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Haber regularly collaborates with local and international artists from the fields of cinema, video, theater, and contemporary art, making him a versatile figure in the Lebanese and global art scenes. As a solo artist and a member of the post-punk group Scrambled Eggs, Haber has composed music for numerous Lebanese filmmakers, artists, and directors, including Khalil Joreige and Joana Hadjithomas, Ghassan Salhab, Mohamad Malas, Lamia Joreige, Ali Cherri, Tarek Atoui, as well as Rabih Mroueh and Lina Majdalani. His compositions reflect his deep engagement with the complexities of the Middle Eastern socio-political landscape.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Haber’s musical pursuits are far-reaching, encompassing a variety of genres and experimental forms. He was part of the free-improvisation ensemble Johnny Kafta Anti-Vegertarian Orchestra, the psychedelic Arabic music group Malayeenand Omarchestra, the cold wave band The Bunny Tylers, and the ambient duo Good Luck In Death. In 2006, he founded the experimental label Those Kids Must Choke and co-created the label Johnny Kafta\u2019s Kids Menu in 2010, further establishing his commitment to avant-garde and underground music scenes. He has also collaborated with a wide range of musicians from the free rock and improvisational realms, including Oiseaux-Temp\u00eate, Radwan Moumneh, Jean Francois Pauvros, The Ex, Michael Zerang, Mats Gustafson, Eddie Prevost, Xavier Charles, and Tony Buck.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Haber\u2019s most recent releases include Enfin la Nuit (2023), a collaboration with Fadi Tabbal, released on Nahal Records, and A Common Misunderstanding of the Speed of Light (2022) on Other People.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n
