Inki, aka Ingibjörg Friðriksdóttir, is an Icelandic artist who merges visual elements with music. She believes in creating music without the limitations of a predetermined specific genre or space, allowing each project to develop organically.

This practice has taken on the form of a multi-channel sound installation using earthquake data as a foundation for a composition played on a novel instrument made of a recycled piano, to a three-fold project involving an augmented reality bookwork and 360 video sound and video installation, and a fashion film featuring pink costumes accompanied by a typewriter and horns. Then there was the time where she produced a bass-heavy beat; sampling keys and banging doors to compliment an inmate’s story about life on death row, which later led to her involvement in the first ever record released from prison, the San Quentin Mixtape. Inki released her first record with Inni Music in 2021 called Quite the Situation.

Inki’s compositions have been performed widely in the US and Europe, featured in festivals and events such as The Nordic Music Days (Iceland), The Young Nordic Music Days (Denmark 2015, Norway 2016, Iceland 2017), The Berkeley Arts Festival (USA) and The Podium Festival (Germany 2018) and Norway 2019).
