Gintas K (Gintas Kraptavičius) is a Lithuanian sound artist and composer living and working in Lithuania, where he has been a part of the experimental music scene since 1994.
He was a core member of the first Lithuanian industrial electronic music band 'Modus'. From 1997 to 2000 he worked as an editor on the radio station 'Kapsai' for an alternative radio show titled 'The Ways and Mistaken Pathways'. There he became known for his sound actions, theatrical performances and conceptual art in the manner of Fluxus.
Nowadays Gintas is working in the field of digital experimental and electroacoustic music, sound installations and is making music for films. His compositions are based on granulated sounds, improv, new hard digital computer music, small melodies. Collaborations with sound artists include @c, Paulo Raposo, Kouhei Matsunaga, David Ellis and many others.
Over a decade he has released numerous records on labels such as Cronica, Baskaru, Con-v, Copy for Your Records, Bolt, Creative Sources, Sub Rosa and others. His works have been presented at various international festivals and symposiums like Transmediale.05, Transmediale.07, ISEA2015, IRCAM forum 2017. Artist in Residency include DAR 2016, DAR 2011, MoKS 2016. He is the winner of the II International Sound-Art Contest “Broadcasting Art 2010” in Spain, and is since 2011 a member of the Lithuanian Composers Union.
