Mathieu Serruys is a graphic designer and musician based in Ghent, Belgium. Working with the (dis)advantages of reel-to-reel tape machines and analog synthesizers, his work is merely based on looped compositions and surrounded by noise artifacts. Last year he released his moody debut album ‘on Germaine Dulac’, in which he focusses on the film ‘Le Coquille et le Clergyman’ (1928), by the female avant garde filmmaker Germaine Dulac. He is also half of the experimental music label B.A.A.D.M., which focusses on the exploration of music as a medium to evoke extramusical meanings, references, ob­sessions or strategies that can lay hidden behind sound.
